Sunday, July 19, 2009 Update:

This article was written by Rita Jean Wagar and appeared in The Post on Sunday, July 19,2009:

At exactly 2:30 p.m. July 10, after nearly four years of operation, the Wolf Creek Deli in Sharon Township closed its doors - for good.

It was an emotional “last day” for Janet George, the deli’s owner, and her staff, as well as the many patrons, most of whom knew of the deli’s closing and the few who did not know until they arrived for lunch.

The deli had become a popular “meet, greet and eat” spot, which drew many regular customers on a daily basis.

“I come here a lot,” said Dwight Axtel, Sharon Golf Club employee. “The food is good, as is the company,” he added.

Medina County Sheriff Neil Hassinger said he is disappointed about the deli’s closing. “I have enjoyed coming here for lunch,” he said, adding, “The atmosphere is friendly and the food is good.” Of Janet and her staff, the sheriff said, “These are some of the nicest people around.”

The sheriff’s wife, Pat, who sometimes meets him for lunch, said, “I’m going to miss this deli a lot; I especially enjoy the salads.”

Jim Doutt, of the EBO Group, said, “I am saddened by the closing. The deli is convenient, the food is good and the people are great.”

Sheriff’s deputy Lt. John Detchon, who stops for lunch at the deli as his schedule permits, described the business as “convenient, friendly and affordable. And the food is great,” he added.

And so it went. The sentiments were the same from Sharon residents Glenn and Betty Jenewein to Rich Tilton, who lives in Wooster but works locally, to the more than 300 others who showed up for lunch.

Janet said the closing was not financially driven and was not her first choice. She is uncertain about plans to open another deli, but will continue her catering service, as she has already partnered with a well-known caterer in the Medina area. She may be reached by telephone at 330-336-5074 or 330-414-2815. Her e-mail address is wolfcreekdeli[AT]roadrunner[DOT]com .

To her customers, Janet said, “Thanks for your patronage, your support, and the many wonderful memories.”

Like they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words!"  Unfortunately, as we attempted to move out OUR equipment on Saturday, there were some issues.  So much that TWO deputies had to respond....

Stay tuned and please check back soon for updates.

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 Update:

Dear Patrons of the Wolf Creek Deli -

It is with great sadness that we announce the Wolf Creek Deli will be closing its doors for the last time on FRIDAY, JULY 10, 2009 at 2:30pm.

We want to assure you this decision was not financially driven and was also not our first choice.  However, it became our only real option.

Please help us go out with a bang and stop by for one ‘Last Lunch’ on Friday.  Weather permitting (and the forecast looks great!), we plan on having a ‘Parking Lot Party’ and grilling hamburgers and hot dogs.

We will be keeping our website up for a while so we can continue to communicate with you.  We have created a new e-mail address (wolfcreekdeli<AT>roadrunner<DOT>com).  Please feel free to drop us a note to say HI, share you favorite memories from the Deli or let us know what your favorite item off the menu was.   We’ll post them to the website for everyone to see.

Thanks again for your patronage and support!  We hope to see you all on Friday!

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
